The Strategic Fundraising Symposium
The Strategic Fundraising Symposium is an annual event hosted by Summit Marketing. The event typically takes place in a popular coastal vacation destination but in 2019, Summit selected its hometown, Kansas City, as the location. The Symposium’s collateral materials highlight Kansas City’s arts district, and the look and feel of the hotel where it took place, The Crossroads Hotel. The goal of the project was to show that Kansas City, while still midwestern, has a hip cultural urban center, and is a unique destination.
To make a splash, the symposium invitation was sent in a custom mailing tube. I developed the key visual that set the look and feel for the event with the outer label design. The inside of the tube included some Kansas City swag and a 14-page detailed event invitation with a walnut veneer cover.
Natural wood, canvas, and leather materials were utilized to symbolize the hotel's historic background, and the theme of “Where History Meets Modern.” To stay within budget, I designed the invitation, leather program cover and wood veneer name badge to be produced in-house. These hand-made items were printed and completed by Summit's talented staff production artist.
The Symposium, a three-day event, had around two dozen speakers with branded presentations. Also, daily emails were sent to the participants to help prepare them for the upcoming events.
